About James Stevenson
I have been interested in photography since I was an undergraduate and started initially with a Topcon RM300 35mm SLR camera, progressing to Pentax via Pentax ME super and Pentax MZ-S mostly using slide film. I migrated to digital in 2004 and have worked my way through a number of Canon DSLR’s including the 20d, 5D, 5D mk3, 1Ds3, 1DX mk1 and 1DX mk2.
I currently use a Canon 1DX mk3 and a mirrorless Canon R3 with a variety of Sigma and Canon lenses.
I have had a number of my skydiving and aviation images published internationally in the skydiving and aviation literature in the UK and Europe, North America, South Africa and Australia including numerous front covers and featured articles.
My main interest has always been sports and action photography but I will try my hand at anything.
I endeavour with my action shots to fill the frame and capture the passion, concentration and expression of the subject. I am particularly pleased when I manage direct eye contact between the subject and the camera. Maybe someday I’ll see you on the other side of my lens.
